North El Camino , Jean-Yves and Françoise Grégoire Pinguet, is a tour of great scenic and heritage alongside the pilgrimage route, following the coast from quite close. Lectio Editions has just published one of the few guides primarily dedicated to this ancient path through history, in 39 stages from France to Santiago and Finisterre on the Cantabrian coast. For several centuries, pilgrims from northern Europe, this was the natural route of Camino de Santiago, and travel along the coastline, sheltered of the Cantabrian Mountains, it was safer to do it inside. From Irun to Villaviciosa is a single path with slight variations here and there. After Villaviciosa, the guide offers an itinerary that, through the mountains of Asturias, turns southwest toward Oviedo. This part of the Northern Route called primitive road, and in the ninth century and was run by King Alfonso II el Casto. The Northern Way brings together, in judicious doses, sea and mountains, a historic closely linked to the pilgrimage, but also with abundant historical connotations. Although El Camino del Norte is the busiest road in all its stages is a landscape of sea and mountains and a rich pre-Roman heritage.
The guide, priced at 20.80 euros, contains maps and photographs of space in 288 pages in color. In addition to the detailed explanation of the route for walkers, each of the itineraries include tips, servivios guide and a historical summary of each of the landmarks that are on the road. This edition of the North Road always offers a route away from traffic and the city, the better for the traveler to go in safety and tranquility.
